The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A thudding body kick lands there by Lei!
Gnp throws a half hearted mid kick.
A leg kick checked by Lei.

Lei throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gnp was covering up waiting for the punch and Lei finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gnp is on top in guard.
Gnp postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Lei is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Gnp is aware though and is defending well.

Lei is looking for a triangle but Gnp pushes his legs off easily.
Gnp is looking to work some ground and pound but Lei has wrist control.

Lei tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lei has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Gnp is looking for a sweep.
Gnp on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Gnp tries to get out of the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lei wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gnp keeps working.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Chan Lei.

Lei is looking to control Gnp but Gnp is wriggling around and keeping busy.
Gnp tries to escape but Lei has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Lei's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
You can see the frustration on Gnp's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

and Syckes connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Ennis looks to land a body kick but Syckes moved away.
Syckes throws a series of punches but Ennis avoids them all with ease.
Ennis fails with a takedown attempt.

and Syckes counters with a crisp one two that drops Ennis! Syckes thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Ennis to his feet! Ennis is in big trouble!

Ennis is rocked!
Syckes is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Syckes darts in and lands a big hook, right on the button! Ennis's legs crumble underneath him as he falls to the canvas! The ref tackles Syckes before he gets to land any more shots to his stricken foe.
