Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Robert Sozin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, James Butch!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Patrick Alders and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sozin misses with a double jab
and Butch connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Sozin shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Butch wants to get back to his feet.
Butch wants to control but Sozin is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Butch tries to roll over but Sozin keeps him under control.
Sozin trying to mount his opponent but Butch defends it.
Sozin is thwarting Butch's attempts to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by James Butch.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Sozin crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Butch - the referee stops the clock and Sozin gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Butch. Sozin manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Butch wants to clinch.

Butch closes the distance and clinches.
Butch jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Sozin walks away with a smile on his face. Butch gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Sozin tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Sozin lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Butch!

Sozin working some short elbows here. He postures up to throw some more ground and pound but Butch slips a leg through to get back to half guard. Nice work.
Butch is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Sozin in particular looking to stall.
Sozin is keen to just control but Butch is a slippery customer.

Sozin is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Butch defends it well.
Butch is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Sozin seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Butch works his way to full guard. Good work.
Butch is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Sozin has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Butch is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Sozin gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Butch.
Robert Sozin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Butch.
Sozin has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Butch is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Butch wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Sozin has him pressed against the cage.

Sozin jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Butch walks away with a smile on his face. Sozin gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

It looks like James Butch has been cut.
Sozin is pushing down on Butch's leg trying to pass to half guard. Butch is fighting to maintain full guard but Sozin has managed to sneak the leg through.
Butch is still in real trouble! Can Sozin finish him?
Sozin lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Sozin throws an overhand right that has Butch reeling! Sozin follows up with more punches and Butch is out cold! This one is all over!

and Ripper counters with a head kick that crumples his opponent - he's in a world of trouble! Ripper looks at the referee who does nothing so Ripper lands a crushing right that sends Eklund to the floor! This time the ref steps in to end the fight.
