Undercard bout

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Zvi Fantl (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aaron Akons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fantl comes into the arena with Westside Connection - Bow Down blaring out of the sound system. Aaron Akons told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Aaron Akons!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akons is looking to slow Fantl down with leg kicks.

Fantl decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Akons is trying to control but can't.
Akons trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Fantl manages to pass to mount!
Fantl seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Akons is holding on tight.
Fantl throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Akons because Fantl loaded up on that one.
Fantl thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Fantl prevents Akons from getting the reversal.
Akons is trying to get back to his feet but can't.

Fantl has hold of Akons's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Akons manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Fantl goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Akons turns into him and now he's in Fantl's guard.

Akons would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Fantl is looking for a triangle but Akons pushes his legs off easily.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Fantl is on top in guard.
Akons wants to stand and escape but Fantl is having none of it.

That was a close second round but I would say that Quintin Quad will probably get the nod.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Gnomi enables Quad to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Gnomi manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Quad drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Quad jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Gnomi pushes Quad away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Quad gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

and Berserk rattles Daddy with a well-timed uppercut counter. - Daddy tries to back away and recover but his hands are down low and he gets tagged again, sending him stumbling down to the canvas. Berserk dives in after him and quickly finishes the job with a trio of brutal punches, leaving Daddy stiff and motionless on the mat!
