The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simmons tries for a takedown but Negrizolli circles away easily
and Negrizolli counters with a nice uppercut.
Negrizolli falls off balance throwing a combination

and Simmons counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Negrizolli!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Negrizolli tries to hold on but Simmons pushes him away.
Simmons postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Negrizolli looks a forlorn figure.
Negrizolli is desperately trying to improve his position but Simmons has a good base and remains in mount.
Simmons really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Negrizolli. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Magamedov fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Picone.

and Magamedov counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Magamedov wants to control from the top but Picone keeps moving.
Magamedov will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Magamedov decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Magamedov tries to close the distance and clinch up but Picone swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Freire feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Castello pushes Freire off and scrambles back to his feet.

Freire closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Freire lands in his opponent's guard.

Alves pushes Purell back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Alves lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Purell is trying to break the clinch but Alves is controlling him.
Alves lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Purell backwards.
Alves pushes Purell back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
