Stevens fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Cruz gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Cruz can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Stevens controls the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cruz working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Stevens doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Stevens manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Cruz isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Stevens stacks Cruz on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Stevens!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Stevens stops Cruz from standing up.

Cruz looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cruz is on top in guard.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Cruz shoots in looking for a takedown. Stevens tries to sprawl out of it but Cruz keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Stevens manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Cruz is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Stevens is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Cruz off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

Stevens is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Cruz gets his way!

Cruz is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Stevens rolls with it to try and escape but Cruz cranks on the arm and Stevens is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

enabling Magamedov to counter with a crisp jab.

It looks like Trajan Langdon has been cut.

and Magamedov counters with a nice right hand that sends Langdon toppling to the canvas! Langdon scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Magamedov finish him?!

This has been an exciting period of action!

Magamedov moves into the clinch.
Magamedov has Langdon pressed against the cage.
Magamedov lands a damaging elbow.

Langdon is fighting off a takedown attempt but Magamedov is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Langdon to the mat. Langdon regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
