The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mako lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Crosby circles away quickly and effectively.

Mako shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Crosby's guard.
Mako postures up in Crosby's guard and throws a big left but Crosby blocks it.
Mako lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Mako is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Crosby preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Mako loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Mako distracts Crosby with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mako content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Crosby is rocked!
Mako arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Crosby's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!

Lapierre uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Turner.

Turner throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Lapierre shoots in but Turner avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Turner lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Turner lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Turner displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Lapierre.

Lapierre feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Turner wants to stand and escape but Lapierre is having none of it.

That was a close round but I would say that James Turner will probably get the nod.

Lapierre shoots in for a takedown but Turner shows good takedown defense.

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jake Franklin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Flakey Dryskin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Franklin comes to the cage accompanied by Slaughterhouse-WoodStock. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Flakey Dryskin!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dryskin misses with the combination.
Franklin is looking to clinch but Dryskin is avoiding it.
Dryskin moves away from the strike by Franklin.
Dryskin misses with a few strikes there.
Jab, jab by Dryskin - just one landing.
A combination from Dryskin does no damage.
Franklin showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Dryskin.
Dryskin slips a jab from Franklin.
Dryskin missing with a left hand there. Franklin was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dryskin throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Franklin sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Franklin avoids a punch combination nicely.
The crowd cheers as Dryskin lands an impressive looking overhand right. Franklin doesn't seem phased though.
Franklin lands with an uppercut that bounces Dryskin off the cage and back into rage.

It looks like Flakey Dryskin has been cut.
Dryskin throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Franklin counters with a nice double leg into side control. Dryskin won't be happy with that.
Dryskin is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Franklin has just dragged him back down to the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Franklin decides to stand up, so the ref orders Dryskin to his feet.

Dryskin swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Franklin counters with a straight right hand.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Franklin decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Franklin paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

and Franklin counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Franklin misses with a looping left.
Franklin throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Dryskin's waist but Dryskin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Franklin off to one side.

and Franklin counters with a leg kick.
Franklin scores with a punch to the head.

That has opened up Flakey Dryskin's cut even more.
Franklin is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Dryskin looks gassed!
A nice inside leg kick there by Franklin. That's going to slow Dryskin down.
Dryskin doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Franklin tests Dryskin's chin there with a solid looking shot.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Franklin misses with a low kick.
Dryskin swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Franklin counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Franklin scores with a punch to the head.

The cut above Flakey Dryskin's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Franklin misses with a body kick.
Franklin throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Dryskin on the side of the head.

Franklin lands a big right hand that sends Dryskin crashing to the mat! Franklin stays standing though and waves Dryskin back to his feet!

Dryskin is rocked!
Franklin connects with a stiff jab that staggers Dryskin - oh and he follows up with a huge uppercut that knocks him out cold! Man, that was brutal!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Jake Franklin!
