Shavnetski feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Hasslehoff sprawling to the canvas! Hasslehoff rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Shavnetski finish him?!
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Hasslehoff has eaten all the pies!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Penn or perhaps it was just good defense by Cekada which made him look bad.
Cekada dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Penn keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Penn tries to score a power double leg takedown but Cekada sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Penn somewhat.
Penn takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Penn gets the takedown into side control.

Penn tries for a kimura but Cekada is defending well.
Cekada tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Penn wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Penn wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Cekada, who protects the arm well.
Cekada manages to work his way to half guard, despite Penn's best efforts.
Cekada wants to control but Penn is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Cekada misses with a hook. Penn ducked under it nicely.
Boris Cekada seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cekada misses with an uppercut. Penn saw that one coming.
Cekada connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Penn shoots in for a takedown but Cekada shows good takedown defense.
Boris Cekada has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of BJ Penn.

Cekada lands a body punch in the clinch.
Cekada lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Cekada makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Penn is rocked!

Cekada breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Cekada lands a with a good body shot.
Cekada connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Penn tumbling to the canvas! Cekada pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Penn was done - good stoppage!
