The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dredd shoots in for a takedown but James shows good takedown defense.
Dredd throws a sloppy head kick and James moves out of range easily.
Dredd wants to clinch but James slips to the side
and James counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Dredd is lucky that one didn't land flush.
James fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
James turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Dredd tries for a takedown but James sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Dredd shoots in looking for a takedown but James manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Dredd's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tony Dredd. That's going to take a lot out of him.
James circles away from the clinch attempt.
Dredd throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around James's waist but James gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Dredd off to one side.
James tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
James should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

A nice leg kick lands there from James.
Dredd stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Dredd wants it to stay on the feet.

James moves into range and connects with a jab.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

James stalks Dredd and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Dredd's face. Dredd staggers backwards, shaken.

Dredd is rocked!
James lands with a right that hurts Dredd. Dredd looks to clinch but James throws a short knee that drops Dredd. This one is all over!

Head will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Daddy shoots in and drives through. Head sprawls well.
Head stuffs the takedown attempt from Daddy. Daddy gets slowly back to his feet.
Daddy doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Head counters with a left to the body.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Big Daddy. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Head throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Daddy.
Daddy looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Head is fending him off so far but Daddy persists. Nope, Head circles away and we're back to standing.
Daddy takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Head lands a jab to Daddy's midsection.
Head tries to close the distance and clinch but Daddy swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Head misses with a head kick.
Daddy has a takedown stuffed.
Nice uppercut lands for Head. That snapped Daddy's head back.
Head throws a series of punches but Daddy moves out of range.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Head misses with a few strikes there.
Head throws a nice inside leg kick.
Daddy shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Head lands a leg kick that knocks Daddy off balance momentarily.
Daddy is breathing heavily.
Head lands a jab-cross combination.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Daddy crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Head - the referee stops the clock and Daddy gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Head. Daddy manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Head throws a series of punches but Daddy avoids them all with ease.
Head misses with a double jab.

and Head counters with a left and a right that stings Daddy.

Daddy tries to pass the half guard into mount. Head knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Daddy wants to control but Head is keeping him busy.
Daddy drops an elbow to the side of Head's head.
Daddy working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Vass feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
