The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Durrant gets the takedown into side control.
Jam is trying to buck Durrant off.
Jam parries the strikes from Durrant easily there. Durrant is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Jam to escape.

Durrant thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Durrant lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Jam throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Jam will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Jam's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Durrant has control of Jam's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Jam regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Durrant is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Durrant extends the arm and Jam is forced to tap!

Ervin Pierre had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 156.7lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Vinny Vos.
