The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James closes the distance and clinches up with Dredd, looking for a takedown. James pushes Dredd against the ropes but Dredd circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Dredd misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Dredd takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
James throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Dredd misses with a body kick.
Dredd shoots in but no luck this time.

Dredd bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Dredd tries to move into full mount but can't pass James's legs.

Dredd wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by James, who protects the arm well.
Dredd remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
James can't do much from the bottom here.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Dredd tries to score with some ground and pound. James controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Dredd is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. James knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Dredd bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in James's guard.

Connor James has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Silva throws a combination. Bravo tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

It looks like Eddie Bravo has been cut.
Silva throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Bravo gets a clinch.

Bravo dives in and grabs Silva's left leg, looking for a takedown. Silva pushes down on Bravo's head and hops out.

Silva lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bravo circles away quickly and effectively.
Silva connects with a body shot that sends Bravo's belly button to the back.
Silva cracks Bravo with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Bravo tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Silva pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Bravo is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
