The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Koutras gets a double leg takedown into Al Tawil's guard.

Koutras changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Al Tawil looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Koutras decides to stand up, so the ref orders Al Tawil to his feet.
Al Tawil is breathing heavily.

Al Tawil tries to sprawl but Koutras drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Koutras is pressing down on Al Tawil's thigh, looking to free his foot. Al Tawil is holding on for now.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Al Tawil enables Koutras to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Al Tawil manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Oooooh!!! Parise has knocked Turmoil down with a huge combo! Parise steps away and waves a wobbly Turmoil back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Parise wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Oh Turmoil is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Parise has managed to clinch.
Parise creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Turmoil with a big uppercut! Turmoil tries to clinch up but Parise pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Turmoil to the mat! Turmoil covers up and Parise unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!

Jar avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
