The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ewing looks to score with a jab to the body but Shines is just out of range.
Shines has his takedown stuffed

and Ewing counters with a takedown into side control.
Ewing is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Shines will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Ewing connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Shines some visible discomfort.
The referee asks Ewing politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Ewing prefers to stall for the moment though.
Shines struggling a bit here.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Shines is looking to reverse the position.
Ewing scoring with punches and elbows.

Shines tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Ewing wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Let's hope that Ewing has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Ewing throws a series of strikes that have Shines backpedaling.

It looks like Razor Shines has been cut.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Shines crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Ewing - the referee stops the clock and Shines gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Ewing. Shines manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Ewing pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Ewing pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Shines back to the cage. Ewing follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fire has Bay up against the cage in a clinch.
Fire with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Fire looking for a takedown.
Bay has Fire pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Fire manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Fire pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Fire leaves Bay with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Fire gets tackled into the cage by Bay. Bay maintains the clinch.
Fire misses with the head strike.

Bay manages to pull guard.

Bay is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Fire defends well.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bay is on top in guard.

Bay has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Fire is proving hard to escape from.
Fire seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Bay had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Fire defends it easily.

Bay manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Fire manages to get himself to full guard.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Borge Bay.
Well Bay has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
