The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
An inside leg kick from Helio misses.
John throws a leg kick
and Helio connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
John throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Helio counters with a good low kick that John was not able to check.
Helio throws a hook to the side of John's head but John sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

John fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Helio to the ground. John is now in Helio's guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Helio looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Helio throws his legs up looking for a submission but John uses it to pass to side control.
Helio is not content to let John control the position.
John working the ground and pound but Helio is defending the strikes.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Helio tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but John wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

John throws and elbow that misses. Helio uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in John's guard. Nice move by Helio!
Helio slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Helio wants to control from the top but John keeps moving.

John is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
John wants to stand up but Helio is controlling him.

and Helio makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

John throws the left hand but Helio avoids the punch easily.
John tries to work over Helio's front leg with a kick but Helio checks it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

John throws a right and a left that both miss.

and Helio makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Mikal Helio will probably get the nod.

John throws an overhand right that lands on Helio's shoulder, as Helio tries to avoid the shot.

Corncrab is pulling down on Moore's head. It's preventing any offense from Moore, at least for the moment.

Corncrab will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Corncrab is working for a rear naked choke. Moore is not defending it well and Corncrab has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Moore refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Moore's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
