Hayes kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The Black Wings of Apocalypse. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Felix St Pierre was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hayes ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
St Pierre shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hayes sprawls well. Hayes wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. St Pierre gets slowly back to his feet.
St Pierre has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Hayes.
St Pierre gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Hayes.
St Pierre chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Hayes looks to land a left hand but St Pierre moved out of range nicely.
St Pierre takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Hayes tries to close the distance and clinch but St Pierre swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Lincoln Hayes is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

and Hayes counters with a nice low kick that buckles St Pierre's knee momentarily.
Hayes uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by St Pierre.

This has been an exciting period of action!

St Pierre shoots in looking for a takedown. Hayes tries to sprawl out of it but St Pierre keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hayes manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Hayes throws an overhand right that lands on St Pierre's shoulder, as St Pierre tries to avoid the shot.

St Pierre tries to score a body lock takedown but Hayes shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Hayes digs a right hand into St Pierre's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on St Pierre's gas tank.

Hayes goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
St Pierre has Hayes pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Hayes manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

St Pierre is trying desperately to land a takedown but Hayes is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for St Pierre.

St Pierre goes for a takedown in the clinch but Hayes prevents it.

Hayes stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.

St Pierre is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Hayes pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Hayes pushes St Pierre back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Hayes works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Hayes makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Hayes lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of St Pierre backwards.
A nice right hand lands inside from Hayes.
Hayes gets through St Pierre's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Hayes works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lincoln Hayes dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


The fighters circle, before Hayes throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into St Pierre's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Hayes lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!
