And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 4 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, German Shepard!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Vladimir Khabensky and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Speed misses with a few strikes there.
Shepard with a lazy takedown attempt
and Speed counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Speed scores with a three punch combo!
Shepard shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Speed defends it nicely.
Shepard fails to land the takedown.
Scott Speed has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of German Shepard.
Shepard moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Shepard looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Speed connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Shepard momentarily.

Shepard throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Shepard postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Shepard goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Speed rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Shepard's guard! Nice work there by Speed!
Shepard trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Shepard is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Shepard is on top in guard.

Shepard has gone for a leg lock! Speed slips out almost immediately though and dives into Shepard's guard.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. German Shepard wasn't active enough on the ground.
Speed defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Shepard.
Shepard shoots in looking for a takedown but Speed manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Shepard's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Speed takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Scott Speed is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A nice combination there by Speed.

Speed stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Speed wants it to stay on the feet.
Shepard closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Shepard shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Speed but Speed pushes him off and we're back to square one.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Speed's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Speed duly obliges.
Shepard will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Shepard tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Speed paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Shepard is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Speed pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Speed is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Shepard drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Speed gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Scott Speed has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of German Shepard.
Shepard has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Speed is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Shepard tries for a takedown. No joy.

Speed can't break the clinch.
Shepard jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Speed walks away with a smile on his face. Shepard gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Speed clobbers Shepard with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Shepard shoots in but no luck this time.
Speed connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Speed scores with a nice right hand.
A jab from Speed does it's job there.
Speed lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Shepard is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Shepard loses concentration momentarily and Speed pounces with a three punch combo! Right, left, right! Shepard crashes face first to the mat, out cold! Speed finishes this one with a fantastically precise combo! Great stuff.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Scott Speed!
