Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tyler Mayfield (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Simon Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mayfield comes to the cage accompanied by Jay-Z - 99 Problems. Taylor has chosen Peanut Butter Jelly Time as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Simon Taylor told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Simon Taylor!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Franklyn Lucas and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taylor tests Mayfield's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Mayfield lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Taylor backs up against the cage.

It looks like Simon Taylor has been cut.
Tyler Mayfield seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mayfield pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Taylor sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Taylor avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Taylor throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Mayfield sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Jab, jab by Taylor - just one landing.
Taylor digs a good hook to Mayfield's body.
Mayfield misses with the combination.

Mayfield darts in and clinches Taylor up against the cage.
Taylor wants to break the clinch but can't.
Mayfield looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Taylor fails to pull guard.
Mayfield fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Taylor lands a shoulder strike.
Taylor wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Taylor lands a body punch in the clinch.
Mayfield lands a nice shot to the body.
Mayfield throws a head punch that misses.
Taylor tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Mayfield smiles and moves away.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mayfield turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Mayfield scores with a three punch combo!
Taylor swings for the body but Mayfield moves out of range.
Taylor drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Taylor throws a leg kick but Mayfield sees it coming and moves out of range.
Mayfield chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Taylor looks gassed!
Mayfield fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Taylor manages to avoid it.
Mayfield stuffs the takedown attempt from Taylor. Taylor gets slowly back to his feet.
Tyler Mayfield has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Simon Taylor.
A looping hook to the body misses from Taylor. Mayfield does a little dance to reset his feet.
A jab from Mayfield misses.
Taylor takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Taylor stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Mayfield.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Mayfield instigates a clinch.
Taylor tries to pull guard but Mayfield won't allow it.
Mayfield makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Taylor takes an elbow to the forehead.
Taylor blocks an uppercut.
Mayfield lands an elbow inside that Taylor shrugs off.
Mayfield throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mayfield throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Taylors head.

Taylor is rocked!

That has opened up Simon Taylor's cut even more.
Mayfield unloads with a big right hand that wobbles Taylor! He's leaning against the cage trying to keep his feet but Mayfield is unloading with more strikes now! Taylor drops to his knees and the referee stops the fight for a TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:12 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tyler Mayfield!
