Undercard bout

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Blink Deathgrip (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Banana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Frank Banana was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Yukihiro Shimada and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Deathgrip misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Banana throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Deathgrip's waist but Deathgrip gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Banana off to one side.
Deathgrip looks for a takedown but Banana sprawls well.

Banana gets a takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Banana is trying to work for a kimura but Deathgrip is defending well.
Deathgrip trying to control but Banana postures up.
Banana is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Deathgrip preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Deathgrip gets full guard.

Banana working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Deathgrip lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Banana!

Deathgrip looking to secure an arm triangle but Banana defends it well.
Banana really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Deathgrip. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Banana tries to hold on but Deathgrip pushes him away.
Banana is desperately trying to improve his position but Deathgrip has a good base and remains in mount.

Deathgrip looking for a guillotine from mount but Banana is having none of it.

Deathgrip is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Banana has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Banana looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!

Banana is trying to defend against the choke here but Deathgrip has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Deathgrip Tightens the hold and Banana taps out furiously! Deathgrip displays superior BJJ to win the fight.

Za shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Za is looking for a kimura here.
am is trying to stand.

Za is sneakily working for an arm triangle but am sees it coming and defends easily.
am really is a fat lump.
Za stalling.
am wants to get back to his feet.
Za scoring with strikes to the body and head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Za is trying to control. am wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

am wants to get back to full guard.
Za sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. am defending well though.

am is defending against the submission attempts here by Za.
Za trying to control the action but am is working from the bottom.
am knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Za on the ground.
am is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Za scores with a couple of nice shots.
am is not content to let Za control the position.
Za thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
am avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Za.

Za is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so am is just riding it out for now. Za eventually gives up the hold.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Za sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. am defending well though.

Za thows a huge punch but am dodges it nicely.
Za winds up and cracks am with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Za missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Za has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

am actively working from the bottom here.
am is breathing heavily.
Za seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Za perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Za is looking to take a break and control but am is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Za is nestled in close to am, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Za thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Za looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Za seems to be working for a kimura but am defends the submission attempt.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Za in particular looking to stall.
Za lands strikes from half guard.
am is not content to let Za control the position.

Za is looking for a kimura but am is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Za to get the leverage.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Za is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Za is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. am doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Za.

Za is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! am is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Stone tries to clinch there but Jabbar circles away.
Jabbar tries to land a front kick but Stone steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Stone throws a combination. Jabbar tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Jabbar fails to pull guard.

A bit of stalling here from Jabbar.

Stone works on Jabbar's body with a couple of short punches.

Jabbar could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Jabbar has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Stone avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Stone creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Jabbar's defenses.

Stone has Jabbar pressed against the cage, preventing Jabbar from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Stone pushes Jabbar against the cage. Stone is working some dirty boxing. Stone pushes off with a quick right hook! Jabbar goes down! Jabbar tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Stone moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!
