Severn tries to clinch but Sackett moves away

and Sackett moves into the clinch.
Sackett lands an elbow inside that Severn shrugs off.

It looks like Johnny Severn has been cut.
Severn is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Sackett gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Carlton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonny Craig (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Craig comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Heat Seeking Ghost of Sex kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Jonny Craig is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carlton loads up on a big right hand but Craig slips the punch.
Carlton throws a right hand that Craig ducks under and follows up with a left that Craig also avoids with ease.
Carlton looks to score with a jab to the body but Craig is just out of range.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Craig is defended easily by Carlton.
Craig fails with the takedown.
Craig tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Carlton manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Craig scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Craig seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Jonny Craig has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Craig looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Craig shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
John Carlton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jonny Craig.
Carlton scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Craig shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Carlton as he jumps to the side.

Craig scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Nice takedown defense from Carlton. No joy for Craig on that attempt.
Carlton throws a hook but Craig avoids it easily.
Craig displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Carlton throws out the jab.
Carlton throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Craig fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Jonny Craig seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Craig.
Craig looks gassed!
Craig on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Carlton will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Carlton keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Carlton thuds his right hand into Craig's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Craig looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Craig is looking to clinch but Carlton is avoiding it.
Craig avoids the body shot from Carlton.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Carlton looks to land a right hand but Craig moved out of range.
Horrible takedown by Craig or perhaps it was just good defense by Carlton which made him look bad.

Craig rushes Carlton and presses him up against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Carlton wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Carlton wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Craig has him pressed against the cage.
Craig is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Carlton gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Craig is trying to drag Carlton to the mat but Carlton just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that John Carlton will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Craig takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Craig shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Carlton eats them both and turns towards Craig to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

It looks like John Carlton has been cut.
Craig changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Carlton tries to avoid it but Craig manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Carlton to the ground. Carlton escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Craig on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Craig takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Carlton lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Danga de danga de dang - Craig scores with a four punch combination!
Carlton lands with a shot to the body.
Carlton ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Craig moves away.
Carlton thows a body shot but no joy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A combination from Craig does no damage.
John Carlton is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Carlton scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Craig doesn't seem bothered though.
Craig is breathing heavily.
Carlton misses with a two punch combination.
Craig slips under a jab from Carlton.

Carlton slaps away a takedown attempt from Craig, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Carlton pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Craig throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Carlton's waist but Carlton gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Craig off to one side.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

It looks like Jonny Craig has been cut.

Craig has a takedown stuffed.

Carlton cracks Craig with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Carlton has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Craig to stand back up!

Craig is rocked!
Carlton ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Craig is still on wobbly legs! Can Carlton finish him?
Carlton darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Craig takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Carlton thows a left - swing and a miss!
Jonny Craig is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Craig has a takedown stuffed.
Craig gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Carlton gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Craig is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!
