The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kannon throws a head kick that misses.

Malapitan is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Kannon's half guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Kannon is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Malapitan's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Malapitan's back!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Malapitan throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kannon's waist but Kannon gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Malapitan off to one side.

Cole rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Pena moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Michael Cole seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sloppy strikes from Pena. Those never looked like landing.
Pena jabs Cole right on the nose. Cole blinks but takes it well.
Cole displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Pena throws out the jab.
Cole lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Cole.
Pena keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Pena moves out of range of the strikes.
Pena lands a lovely overhand right.
Cole misses with a hook.
Cole scores with a jab to the jaw.
Pena scores with the left hand. Cole knows he should have avoided that one.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Cole takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Cole looks to land a right hand but Pena moved out of range.
No joy there for Pena, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Cole misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Pena throws a good cross that connects.

Cole is rocked!
Cole drops his hands momentarily. Pena doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Cole staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Cole doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.

Javier Pena decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
