Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 34 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mario Betoli!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Aafke Stam and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Plant misses the jab.
Betoli moves out of range of the strikes.
Betoli slips under a jab.

Plant scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

It looks like Mario Betoli has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Plant throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Betoli ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Plant moves away.
Plant will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Plant cracks Betoli with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Betoli connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Plant momentarily.
Betoli throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Betoli throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Plant throws the left hand but Betoli avoids the punch easily.
Betoli lands a head shot.
A solid leg kick lands there for Plant.

Plant darts in and clinches Betoli up against the cage.

Still in the clinch, Plant scores with a nice short uppercut.
Plant lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Plant scores with a shot to the side of Betoli's head.
Plant blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Betoli cracks Plant with a nice body shot.

Betoli throws a head punch that misses.
Plant works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Betoli lands a takedown into guard.
Plant looking to hit a scissor sweep but Betoli is one step ahead there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Betoli drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Betoli jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Plant looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Plant is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Betoli is aware though and is defending well.
Plant keeping moving, preventing Betoli from controlling successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Plant working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Betoli.

Plant looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Betoli throwing strikes from guard but Plant blocks nicely.
Betoli stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Plant swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Betoli slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Plant is looking for a sweep.

Betoli looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Plant tries to buck Betoli off but Betoli is having none of it.
Betoli has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Plant is not content to let Betoli control the position.
Plant wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Plant tries to improve position but can't.
The ground and pound from Betoli seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Plant tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Plant is trying to escape the mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Betoli raining down shots from the mount!
Betoli can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Plant is looking to escape.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Betoli with shots to the head and body - Plant looks very uncomfortable down there.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Plant keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Betoli is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Plant is surviving well by controlling Betoli's body position as best he can.
Plant working to try and regain half guard.
Betoli lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Plant is rocked!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Betoli has hold of Plant's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Plant manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Oh Plant is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Betoli postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Plant in real trouble here! The ref calls for Plant to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mario Betoli!
