The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rizal tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Evens paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Evens throws a shot to the body.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Evens!

It looks like Jose Rizal has been cut.
Evens tried to score with a low kick but Rizal checks it.
Evens throws a leg kick but Rizal sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Rizal dives in and grabs Evens's left leg, looking for a takedown. Evens pushes down on Rizal's head and hops out.

Evens bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Rizal shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Evens sprawls well. Evens wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Rizal gets slowly back to his feet.

A nice inside leg kick there by Brasil. That's going to slow Kit down.
Kit throws a lazy right hand but Brasil sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Brasil moves away from the strike by Kit.
Kit pivots, looking for a leg kick but Brasil is out of range and Kit settles back down.
Brasil is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Buakaw Kit.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kit, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Horrible takedown by Slice or perhaps it was just good defense by Melendez which made him look bad.

Melendez shoots in and gets a takedown into Slice's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Slice has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Melendez doesn't defend quickly enough and Slice has managed to lock this one up! Can Melendez escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Slice on a fantastic submission victory.
