The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Kajiwara as Sparta shoots in.
Kajiwara looks for a takedown but Sparta sprawls well.
Sparta throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Sparta closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Kajiwara quickly recovers to half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Sparta stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Kajiwara will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sparta throws a wild hook but Kajiwara just manages to duck under it and - ooooh! Sparta gets nailed by a brutal uppercut which crumples him back against the cage! The referee jumps in - Kajiwara raises his hands in celebration and walks away!
