The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The East connects with a high kick.
Samuel fails with an attempt to clinch.
Samuel tries to clinch up
and The East counters with a lovely straight right hand!
A head kick by The East misses

and Samuel counters by moving into the clinch.
The East drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Samuel misses with a knee to the head.

The East successfully pulls guard.

The East working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Samuel doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Samuel manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Samuel looking to sit in guard and control but The East gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The East tries to free his leg and advance position but Samuel is retaining full guard.

Samuel is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and The East defends well.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as The East accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The East is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Samuel had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. The East defends it easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The East pushing down on Samuel's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

The East is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Samuel doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time The East.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Samuel is trying to stand up here but The East is controlling him well.

The East has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Samuel defend it? The East steps over the head and cranks it - Samuel is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for The East!

Ducker tries to clinch but Rex moves away

and Rex holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Rex has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Ducker clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Ducker covering up well under a series of strikes from Rex.
Rex missing with strikes from the back.
Rex throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rex punches the canvas rather than the man.

Rex punches Ducker on the ear.
Rex is looking to finish with some ground and pound!
Ducker tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Ducker knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rex on the ground.
Rex landing strikes from the mount and Ducker is in trouble!

This has been an exciting period of action!
Rex trying to control but Ducker is having none of it.
Rex punching from mount but Ducker doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Rex has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Rex cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Rex is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Ducker can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Rex throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Rex content just to control the position here.
Rex is landing with some decent strikes but Ducker is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ducker can't escape the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
BOOM! Rex connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Rex looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Ducker avoids a series of strikes thrown by Rex.
Rex looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Ducker covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
