The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circle momentarily. OReilly darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Action fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging OReilly to the ground. Action is now in OReilly's guard.

OReilly has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Action gets tagged by a hook that puts him to sleep! OReilly points and yells something to his unconcious foe before strutting off. Action wakes up just in time to hear OReilly thank his coaches in the post fight interview.

Quatrone kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Stronger by Kayne West. Esteban Delgado told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Konstantin Kalyagin!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
William throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kalyagin looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
William misses with a right hand
and Kalyagin makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
William tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kalyagin was well out of range. Poor timing from William.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Kalyagin.
Kalyagin on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Kalyagin's jab looks to have found its range, popping William under the eye.
William just misses with a punch to the body.
William swings for the body but Kalyagin moves out of range.

William is looking to wear down Kalyagin with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

and Kalyagin counters with a lovely straight right hand!
William scores with a crisp jab that stopped Kalyagin in his tracks.

William tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kalyagin swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
William is looking to land body kicks.
William throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kalyagin stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Kalyagin gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
William swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Kalyagin counters with a straight right hand.

William shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. William showed some decent athleticism there.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Kalyagin has hold of William's hands but William slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

William shoots for a takedown but Kalyagin saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
William throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Kalyagin on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by William. William obviously looking to wear him down.
William fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kalyagin manages to avoid it.
William connects with a leg kick. Kalyagin looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
William is looking to slow Kalyagin down with leg kicks.
William fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Kalyagin looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
A looping hook to the body misses from William. Kalyagin does a little dance to reset his feet.

Kalyagin bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

William throws an overhand right that lands on Kalyagin's shoulder, as Kalyagin tries to avoid the shot.

William comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
William tries to clinch there but Kalyagin circles away.
William shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kalyagin as he jumps to the side.
Kalyagin stuffs the takedown.

William ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
William misses with a hook.
Kalyagin checks a leg kick.

William drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
William with a flurry of punches that miss.
William trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells William's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
William forces his way into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

William looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kalyagin with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

William is working for a kimura but Kalyagin is defending it quite comfortably.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
William thows a huge punch but Kalyagin dodges it nicely.

William trying to control the action but Kalyagin is working from the bottom.
William throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
William wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kalyagin keeps working.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. William connects with a nice short shot to Kalyagin's temple.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. William lands a nice short elbow.

William is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Kalyagin still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Kalyagin has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

William is not content to let Kalyagin control the position.
William tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Kalyagin tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
William regains half guard.
Kalyagin stalling away here and it's allowed William to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
William is looking for a takedown.

Kalyagin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kalyagin moves out of range of the body kick from William.
William takes a swing at Kalyagin's ribcage but misses.
William connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Kalyagin's hands.

and Kalyagin counters with a low kick, right behind William 's knee.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Kalyagin lands a front kick.
William changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The fighters circling - William throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
William shoots for a takedown but Kalyagin saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
William looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kalyagin is fending him off so far but William persists. Nope, Kalyagin circles away and we're back to standing.
William keeps Kalyagin at a distance using the push kick.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Kalyagin.
William fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
William tries a head kick but it misses.

Kalyagin pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kalyagin lands an overhand right.
William scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Konstantin Kalyagin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
William misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Kalyagin.

Kalyagin swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

William is looking to clinch but Kalyagin is avoiding it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
William cracks the inside of Kalyagin's front leg.
Kalyagin throws a nice looking combination but William bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Nice uppercut lands for William. That snapped Kalyagin's head back.
Kalyagin's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
William moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Kalyagin tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
William connects with an inside leg kick.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
William misses with the combination.

William clinches up with Kalyagin and pushes him back against the cage.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to James William.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for William, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
