The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Leandro Rodrigues and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maeda tried to score with a low kick but Davis checks it.
The fighters circling - Davis throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
A telegraphed right hand from Davis misses the target.
Davis really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Maeda shoots for a double leg takedown but Davis sprawls well. He's pushed Maeda's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Davis throws a hook to the side of Maeda's head but Maeda sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Davis cracks Maeda with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

It looks like Mitsuyo Maeda has been cut.
Maeda pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Davis misses with a hook.
Davis waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Maeda.
Maeda fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Davis throws an overhand right that lands on Maeda's shoulder, as Maeda tries to avoid the shot.
Maeda bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Maeda shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Davis as he avoids it easily.
Clay Davis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mitsuyo Maeda.
Maeda walks into a stiff left hand from Davis.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Maeda's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Davis connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Maeda scrambles back to his feet.

Maeda is rocked!
Maeda misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Maeda is still on wobbly legs! Can Davis finish him?

Davis closes the distance and clinches.

Davis manages to break the clinch.

Davis scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Maeda seems to have recovered his senses.
Clay Davis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Davis throws a body punch but Maeda moves out of range.
A head kick misses from Maeda.
Davis is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Maeda looks gassed!

Davis pushes Maeda up against the cage in a clinch.
Davis gets underhooks to prevent Maeda's takedown attempt.

Davis escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Davis closes the distance looking for a takedown. Maeda stuffs it but Davis still has hold of him. Davis picks Maeda up in a fireman's lift! The crowd roars in approval. Davis slams Maeda to the floor and that's really hurt Maeda - he doesn't know where he is! Davis throws a couple of strikes and the referee steps in to save him! This one is in the books!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Clay Davis!
Our winner, Clay Davis, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Adbo misses with a wild body shot.

Hioki moves into the clinch successfully.
Adbo really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Hioki tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Hioki decides to pull guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Adbo pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hioki is keeping the position for now.
Hioki is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Hioki keeping moving, preventing Adbo from controlling successfully.
Hioki wants to stand and escape but Adbo is having none of it.
Hioki tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Adbo is looking to work some ground and pound but Hioki has wrist control.
Adbo trying to stand up but can't free himself from Hioki's guard.
Adbo is fighting to break Hioki's control of his arms but Hioki is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Hioki closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hioki lands in his opponent's guard.
Hioki trying to control the position from guard on top but Adbo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hioki slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Hioki looking to sit in guard and control but Adbo gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Adbo trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Adbo will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Adbo trying to control but Hioki is working from the bottom.
Hioki is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Adbo is controlling him.
Adbo content to stall in guard here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Hioki shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
You get the feeling that Adbo really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Hioki tries to control but Adbo wriggling away.
Adbo avoids a series of strikes thrown by Hioki.
Hioki lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Adbo is looking to improve his position but Hioki isn't that keen on the idea.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hioki fails to advance to Adbo's back.
Adbo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hioki on the ground.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
BOOM! Hioki connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Hioki moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Adbo has worked his arm free - good work by Adbo!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hioki postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Hioki wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Adbo, who protects the arm well.

Hioki is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Adbo is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Hioki is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Adbo has escaped the position, nice work there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hatsu Hioki dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Adbo circles away from the clinch attempt.
Adbo cracks Hioki with a good jab.
Mohamed Adbo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Adbo gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Adbo is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hioki defends well.

Hioki drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Hioki as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Adbo screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Hioki! Nice submission victory there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Hatsu Hioki!
Hatsu Hioki was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
