Rock closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Ibanez quickly recovers to half guard.

Rock stands up out of the half guard.
Ibanez misses with a double jab

and Rock counters with a crisp one two that drops Ibanez! Rock thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Ibanez to his feet! Ibanez is in big trouble!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ibanez loses concentration momentarily and Rock pounces with a three punch combo! Right, left, right! Ibanez crashes face first to the mat, out cold! Rock finishes this one with a fantastically precise combo! Great stuff.

A punch lands to the side of Van Der Veer 's head but he takes it in his stride.

It looks like Magnus Van Der Veer has been cut.
Palmeri thumps Van Der Veer with a low kick.
Palmeri cracks Van Der Veer's jaw with two stiff jabs then ducks low and throws a soul-severing right uppercut to the mouth!! Van Der Veer slumps to the ground with blood on his lips. The referee steps in before Palmeri can do further damage! This one is done, son!

Coggins throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Skerlik tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Coggins is in Skerlik's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Coggins stands up and waves to Skerlik to follow him.

Coggins shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Coggins must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Coggins loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Coggins has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Skerlik is proving hard to escape from.
Coggins postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Skerlik pushes Coggins off and scrambles back to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Coggins clinches.

Coggins turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Coggins manages to end up in side control.
Coggins creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Skerlik is trying to get back to his feet.
Coggins working the ground and pound but Skerlik is defending the strikes.
Coggins in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Coggins has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Skerlik enables Coggins to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Skerlik manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Skerlik wriggles free and stands up.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Coggins feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Coggins looks gassed!

Skerlik uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Skerlik shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Coggins as he avoids it easily.
Coggins smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Skerlik doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Coggins counters with a single leg into guard. Skerlik didn't expect that.
Coggins distracts Skerlik with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Coggins has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Skerlik is proving hard to escape from.
Coggins connects with a couple of short punches.
Skerlik utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Coggins accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Coggins lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Coggins stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Skerlik throws up his legs and catches Coggins in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Coggins tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Skerlik! That came out of nowhere!

Connors is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Fitzhugh has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Fitzhugh manages to reverse the position and now he's in Connors's guard. Nice work there by Fitzhugh.
Fitzhugh would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Fitzhugh has gone for a leg lock! Connors slips out almost immediately though and dives into Fitzhugh's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Fitzhugh wants to reverse the position here. Connors has hold of a leg though and he's dropped back looking for a kneebar! The fighters roll across the mat but Fitzhugh is forced to tap! Fitzhugh looks devastated but at least his leg points in the right direction.

Chang is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Simpson is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Fons is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Kakkar scores with a couple of nice shots.

Fons is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Fons takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Kakkar is landing with some decent strikes but Fons is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Kakkar tries to control but Fons wriggling away.
Kakkar really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fons. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kakkar moves into full mount! Fons won't be happy about that!
Kakkar pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Fons is working to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fons gets back to half guard.
Kakkar wants to free his trapped foot but Fons is holding on for dear life with his legs.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fons moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Kakkar stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fons swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Fons really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Fons wants to stand up but Kakkar is controlling him.
Kakkar trying to control the position from guard on top but Fons is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Fons is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kakkar is aware though and is defending well.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kakkar stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fons swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Fons keeping moving, preventing Kakkar from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hriday Kakkar dominated that round.
That's time! Fons's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Kakkar tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
A chopping leg kick lands by Fons.
Fons throws a head kick that misses.
Fons lands a head kick. Kakkar smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Fons lands a nice looking body kick.

Fons gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Fons not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Fons bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kakkar's guard.
Fons prevents Kakkar from getting back to his feet.

Fons is fighting to break Kakkar's control of his arms but Kakkar is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Fons trying to control but Kakkar is working from the bottom.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kakkar can do anything to dispel that myth.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Wojciech Fons.
