Grimes needs to keep his hands up - Gruffo had a free shot at his head there.
Gruffo connects with a good right hand that stumbles Grimes. Grimes circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Grimes takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Gruffo sends Grimes crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Gruffo is motioning to the referee to let Grimes up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Grimes is rocked!
Gruffo fakes the body blow, causing Grimes to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Grimes goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith slips a straight right by Nurminen.
Smith takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Nurminen slips a jab and a cross from Smith.
Smith fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Nurminen manages to avoid it.

Smith is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Nurminen's half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Smith throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Smith moves nicely into side control.
Smith trying to control the action but Nurminen is working from the bottom.

Smith tries to score with some ground and pound. Nurminen controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Smith has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Smith is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Nurminen knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Smith has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Nurminen is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Smith yanks on the arm and Nurminen is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Smith.

A slow jab from Wrecker misses its intended target.
Nice takedown defense from Wrecker. No joy for Taken on that attempt.
Taken turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Wrecker looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Taken fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Wrecker avoids it really well and circles away.

Wrecker is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Taken.
Taken tries to close the distance and clinch up but Wrecker swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Taken takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Wrecker looks to score with a jab to the body but Taken is just out of range.
Taken shoots in for a double leg but Wrecker sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

A slapping leg kick lands for Wrecker.
Taken fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Wrecker closes the distance and clinches.
Taken is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Taken lands a hook that snaps the head of Wrecker backwards.
A short left from Wrecker.
Taken has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Wrecker avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Wrecker.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Wrecker tries to land knees in the clinch but Taken avoids the damage to the body.

Wrecker is adopting a defensive guard.
Taken trying to control the position from guard on top but Wrecker is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Taken engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Taken wants to control from the top but Wrecker keeps moving.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Chance Taken has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Wrecker is looking to land body kicks.
Faze Wrecker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wrecker scores with a sloppy right hand. Taken should have avoided that one.

Taken is breathing heavily.

Wrecker drops Taken with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Taken looks back up at him and smiles so Wrecker waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Taken is still on wobbly legs! Can Wrecker finish him?
Wrecker scores with a jab to the body.
Wrecker throws an uppercut from hell that sends Taken clean off his feet! He's out cold! Wrecker stands back and admires his work as he thinks about that KO of the night award that is surely being wrapped up for him back stage.
