A telegraphed takedown attempt from Popson is defended easily by Mcarthy.
Mcarthy feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Wise looks to land a left hand but Rees moved out of range nicely.
Rees takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Wise throws a body punch but Rees moves out of range.
Rees shoots in for a takedown but Wise shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
