The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rivaldo rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Stefaniak moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Stefaniak looks to clinch
and Rivaldo connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Rivaldo connects with a crisp jab.
Stefaniak tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Rivaldo counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Stefaniak has taken the fight to the clinch.
Stefaniak has Rivaldo pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Rivaldo manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Oooooh!!! Rivaldo has knocked Stefaniak down with a huge combo! Rivaldo steps away and waves a wobbly Stefaniak back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Alves misses the shot to the body.
Alves uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Naza shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Alves fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Leandro Alves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Alves is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Naza fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Alves avoids it really well and circles away.

Alves lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Alves fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Alves feints and as Naza raises his hands in defense, Alves changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Black throws a jab but it's blocked by Strikes.

Black rushes Strikes and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Black's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Black is looking to clinch but Strikes is avoiding it.
Black lands a jab to Strikes's midsection.
Black misses with a body shot.
Strikes throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Strikes is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Black breaks from the clinch.
Black throws a leg kick which misses Strikes's front leg but catches the back leg as Strikes tries to avoid it.
Strikes tries to score with a low kick but Black moves his leg out of the way.

Black closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Black lands in his opponent's guard.

Black lands a nice leg kick that just misses Strikes's sensitive parts.
Strikes ducks under a wild hook from Black.
Strikes slips a straight right by Black.
Black connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Strikes does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Strikes tries to move into range but Black moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Black works the jab nicely.

Black scores with a decent looking hook.

Black instigates a clinch.

Strikes is trying to maintain a safe position but Black gets an underhook and turns Strikes into the cage.

Strikes with an attempt at a knee that misses.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Strikes breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Carlos Strikes is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Strikes on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Black connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Strikes lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Black has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Black and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

and Black counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Strikes moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Strikes with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Black to score with a decent uppercut.
Strikes tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Black paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Strikes slips a jab and a cross from Black.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mr Black dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Strikes wants to clinch but Black slips to the side
and Black cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Strikes stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Strikes wants it to stay on the feet.

Strikes tries to stall but Black uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Black is leaning against Strikes and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.

Strikes misses with a punch to the body.

Black breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Strikes's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Black scores with a jab to the head.
Strikes tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Strikes takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Black throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Strikes sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Black tests Strikes's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Strikes tries to break free but Black pushes him back against the cage.

Black has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Strikes uses from the top position.

Black working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Strikes doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Black is tightening it up a little... Strikes has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Strikes reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Strikes taps out! Nice BJJ there by Black!
