The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Thompson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Lawrence is stalling in the full guard.

Thompson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Lawrence defends it easily.
Lawrence is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Thompson is on top in guard.
Thompson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lawrence swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Rutecki wants to clinch up but Man keeps it at a distance.
Man tries for a takedown but Rutecki sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Rutecki misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Man.
Rutecki stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rutecki wants it to stay on the feet.
Rutecki throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Rutecki leaves Man with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Man looks to land a combination but Rutecki avoids it well.
