Dominic is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Gracie's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Gracie's back!

Gracie is having to fend off submission attempts from Dominic, who is looking to sink in the choke. Dominic doesn't have the hooks in though and Gracie manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Dominic has his foot on Gracie's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gracie works his way back into a safe position though.

Well Gracie has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Doug Graves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shinigami Hyuuku (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Graves's entrance music is Alvarez. A fine choice. Hyuuku is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Killing In The Name Of/Rage Against The Machine. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hyuuku changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Graves looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Hyuuku wants to control but Graves is keeping him busy.

Hyuuku tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hyuuku has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Hyuuku wants to lay and pray for a moment but Graves keeps working.

Hyuuku goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Graves has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Hyuuku but great work by Graves.

Hyuuku is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Doug Graves has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shinigami Hyuuku.

Hyuuku feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hyuuku is thwarting Graves's attempts to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Graves tries to roll over but Hyuuku keeps him under control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Graves bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Graves jabs Hyuuku to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Graves throws a leg kick which misses Hyuuku's front leg but catches the back leg as Hyuuku tries to avoid it.
A looping hook to the body misses from Hyuuku. Graves does a little dance to reset his feet.
Graves fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Hyuuku.
Hyuuku shoots in for a double leg but Graves sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
