The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fernandes pulls out of a head kick attempt.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Xyfer connects with a nice short shot to Fernandes's temple.
Xyfer winds up and cracks Fernandes with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Xyfer lands a nice short elbow.

Lake lands a jab to Kenny's midsection.
Kenny moves forwards but Lake connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Lake lands a right hook to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kenny is trying hard to land a takedown here. Lake sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Lake stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lake wants it to stay on the feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Kenny is defended easily by Lake.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kron Kenny. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kenny is breathing heavily.
Kenny shoots in for a double leg but Lake sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Lake pounces like a tiger and cracks Kenny with a vicious hook! Kenny is down but not out! Lake follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!

Douglas bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Mooney is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

and Mooney counters with a series of strikes that practically lifts Douglas off his feet! He tumbles backwards, his head bouncing off the mat - Mooney follows up with more strikes before the ref can step in but Douglas was out before he hit the floor.
