The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ruthless decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Newton is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Newton keeping hold of Ruthless's head, controlling as best he can.
Newton has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ruthless is working away from the top position though.
Newton is trying is best to control the position here.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Peter Newton.
Newton throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ruthless's waist but Ruthless gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Newton off to one side.

Ruthless clinches up with Newton and pushes him back against the cage.
