Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Vladimir Klitiscko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michal Materla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Materla is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Do Gory Leb. Vladimir Klitiscko had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 187.4lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. This should be fireworks!

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Eiji Kawashima (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jyrska Velmu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Velmu's choice of entrance music: Doctor Doctor by UFO. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Eiji Kawashima!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jyrska Velmu!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Matheus Silva and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kawashima jabs Velmu to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Kawashima throws a wild body kick that Velmu sees coming a mile off.
Kawashima fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Velmu checks it well.
Velmu blocks the body kick.
Kawashima throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Nice uppercut lands for Kawashima. That snapped Velmu's head back.
Velmu shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kawashima as he jumps to the side.
Kawashima displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Velmu.

and Velmu counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Kawashima swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Kawashima cracks Velmu with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Velmu shoots in looking for a takedown. Kawashima tries to sprawl out of it but Velmu keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kawashima manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Eiji Kawashima has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jyrska Velmu.

Velmu throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kawashima's waist but Kawashima gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Velmu off to one side.

and Kawashima makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Velmu lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Velmu closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Velmu is pressing down on Kawashima's thigh, looking to free his foot. Kawashima is holding on for now.
Velmu thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kawashima's head.
Velmu is looking to advance position but Kawashima won't allow it.

Velmu has his foot on Kawashima's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kawashima works his way back into a safe position though.

Velmu is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
