The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie fails to land the takedown.
Aoshi throws a head kick that misses.
Gracie fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Gracie has a takedown stuffed.

Aoshi throws a right hand that Gracie ducks under and follows up with a left that Gracie also avoids with ease.
Gracie shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Aoshi but Aoshi pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Aoshi lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gracie circles away quickly and effectively.

Aoshi throws a leg kick which misses Gracie's front leg but catches the back leg as Gracie tries to avoid it.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Gracie wants to free his trapped foot but Aoshi is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Aoshi tries to kick Gracie off in order to stand up. Gracie Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Aoshi is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Gracie asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Aoshi wants to get back to his feet.
Aoshi really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Aoshi is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the ropes but Gracie has just dragged him back down to the mat.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Aoshi can do anything to dispel that myth.

Gracie is working to tighten is grip on Aoshi's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Aoshi has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Gracie is really squeezing tight and eventually Aoshi passes out! Gracie breaks the hold and jumps onto the ropes to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
