and Gracie counters by moving into the clinch.
Gracie tries to pull guard but Oni won't allow it.
Gracie keeps control of Oni as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Gracie fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Oni is pressed up against the cage. Gracie has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Oni down to the mat. Oni avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Oni really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Oni has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Gracie finds it's way round the side to connect with Oni's head.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matiss throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

Spishak tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Matiss smiles and moves away.

Spishak shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Spishak working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Matiss doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Matiss manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Matiss is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Spishak isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Matiss stacks Spishak on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Matiss!
