and Sackett counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Sackett rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Pontes moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Pontes shoots in looking for a takedown. Sackett tries to sprawl out of it but Pontes keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sackett manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Pontes closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Nolan Sackett.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reed feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Thorsen's calf.
Thorsen takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Reed takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
A swing and a miss from Reed.
Reed jabbing away but nothing is landing.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Thorsen paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Thorsen stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Reed blocks the body kick.
Thorsen fails in his attempt to clinch.
Gundar Thorsen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Reed ducks under a wild hook from Thorsen.

and Reed counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Thorsen thinking.

Thorsen wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Thorsen drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Reed cracks Thorsen with a hook to the temple - Thorsen is on wobbly legs here! Reed swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Thorsen falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Reed wins by TKO!
