The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva lands a jab to Van damm's midsection.

Silva shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Van damm napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Van damm tries to bench press Silva off him but Silva keeps the position.

Silva wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Van damm, who protects the arm well.
Van damm can't do much from the bottom here.
Van damm is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Silva's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Van damm is trying to control but can't.
Van damm is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Tong Van damm will probably get the nod.

Van damm has Silva pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Van damm pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Silva tumbling to the mat - Van damm dives into Silva's guard.

Silva is trying to push Van damm off with his feet but Van damm grabs hold of one of the legs and drops back looking for a submission! He's cranking on one of Silva's ankles and Silva is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaall over!
