The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Box misses with a right hand
and Carson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

It looks like Check Box has been cut.
Carson throws a shot from downtown. Box moves away and avoids it.
Box takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Carson avoids the body shot from Box.

Box drives through with a takedown into guard.
Carson tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Carson is looking to stand up but Box isn't so interested in that idea.
Carson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Box trying to control the position from guard on top but Carson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Box fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Carson looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Carson thuds his right hand into Box's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Box is rocked!
Carson plants his feet and throws a 3 punch combo. Miss, miss, boom! The third punch, a big right hook, connects right on the temple and drops Box to the mat, unconscious! This fight is all over! Box just couldn't keep out of the way of the whole flurry of punches!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Monteiro or perhaps it was just good defense by Spanked which made him look bad.
Spanked pivots, looking for a leg kick but Monteiro is out of range and Spanked settles back down.

Spanked gets caught flat footed, as Monteiro shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Monteiro pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Spanked is keeping the position for now.
Monteiro connects with a couple of short punches.
Monteiro trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Spanked manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
Spanked tries to free his leg and advance position but Monteiro is retaining full guard.

Spanked decides to stand back up.
Monteiro changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Spanked tries to avoid it but Monteiro manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Spanked to the ground. Spanked escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Monteiro moves out of range as Spanked throws a body kick.

Spanked closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Monteiro parries the strikes from Spanked easily there. Spanked is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Monteiro to escape.

Spanked decides to stand up, so the ref orders Monteiro to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Monteiro shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Spanked as he jumps to the side.
Gonna Spanked has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcello Monteiro.

and Spanked decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Monteiro's guard.
Monteiro is trying to control the position but Spanked postures up.
Spanked's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Spanked has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Monteiro regains guard immediately.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Spanked stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Monteiro swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Gonna Spanked overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Spanked wants to stand but Monteiro is controlling his posture from full guard.
Spanked loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Monteiro looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Monteiro is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Spanked stays in close to Monteiro's body and controls the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Monteiro shoots in and bounces Spanked off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Monteiro is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Spanked is just riding it out for now. Monteiro eventually gives up the hold.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Monteiro connects with a nice short shot to Spanked's temple.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marcello Monteiro showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
