The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vengeance lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Riley circles away quickly and effectively.
Vengeance misses with a double jab

and Riley counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Riley is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Vengeance sees it coming and defends easily.
Vengeance looks like he's trying to stand up.
Riley thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Riley is keen to just control but Vengeance is a slippery customer.

Riley is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Riley thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Vengeance's head.

Riley is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Vengeance is just riding it out for now. Riley eventually gives up the hold.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to True Vengeance.

Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Barney Phife (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Galt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Phife might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Fernandinho - Mais Alto. Galt comes into a darkened arena with his song building. State of the Union by Rise Against kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.
