The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rivera moves out of range of the leg kick from Cutler.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Ares throws a right hand that Proudstar ducks under and follows up with a left that Proudstar also avoids with ease.
Ares checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Proudstar cracks Ares with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Ares shoots in for a double leg but Proudstar sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Ares shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Proudstar sprawls well. Proudstar wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ares gets slowly back to his feet.

Ares walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ares throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Proudstar.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Proudstar is on top in guard.
Proudstar is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Ares looking to hit a scissor sweep but Proudstar is one step ahead there.

Ares is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Proudstar postures up in Ares's guard and throws a big left but Ares blocks it.
Proudstar trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Proudstar stands up over Ares, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Proudstar trying to control but Ares is working from the bottom.
Proudstar is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Solomon Ares.

and Ares counters with a nice body kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Proudstar looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Ares dips to his left and cracks Proudstar with an uppercut!

Proudstar decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Proudstar is looking for a kimura but Ares is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Proudstar to get the leverage.

Proudstar is keen to just control but Ares is a slippery customer.

Ares is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Proudstar is tapping! Great win for Ares!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Solomon Ares!
A very excited looking Solomon Ares rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
