The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch combination from Chandler misses.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Ushkanov enables Chandler to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Ushkanov manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Chandler thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Chandler looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ushkanov with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Ushkanov is in trouble now - Chandler has advanced to mount!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Chandler quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Chandler but it's paid off an Ushkanov is forced to tap! Nice work by Chandler.

Ludwig Van Normayen told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Van Normayen throws a front kick aimed at Locke's knee but Locke avoids it well.
Nice shot lands for Van Normayen.

Van Normayen lands a leg kick that knocks Locke off balance momentarily.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Van Normayen has one foot on Locke's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Locke shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Van Normayen napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Van Normayen is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Van Normayen is looking to control Locke's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Van Normayen avoid being mounted?
Locke working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Locke has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Van Normayen can do anything to dispel that myth.

Crimson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Jones sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Crimson somewhat.

A head kick by Jones - that's a beauty! Crimson is out but he's somehow still standing... he's going... going... gone. Like a drunk walking down the middle of the road, the inevitable face plant follows and the delayed knockout arrives. Even Jones can't help but laugh at the bizarre end to this one!

These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Sandifer is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Young locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Sandifer is forced to tap!
