The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Racaza swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Matoshin walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Racaza punishes Matoshin's body with a nice straight punch.

so Matoshin counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Racaza is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Matoshin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Racaza swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Matoshin postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Racaza is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Matoshin, into his guard.

Matoshin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Racaza tries to avoid it but Matoshin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Racaza to the ground. Racaza escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Toshi Matoshin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
