The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Monkey wants to pass the guard but Barros is keeping the position.
Monkey is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Monkey stops Barros from standing up.
Monkey trying to control but Barros is working from the bottom.

We're going to have a standup here because Lufi Monkey wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Barros takes a swing at Monkey's ribcage but misses.

Monkey works the jab nicely.
Monkey tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Barros was well out of range. Poor timing from Monkey.
Barros tries to clinch up but Monkey circles away and keeps his distance.
Barros misses with a low kick as Monkey jumps back.

and Monkey counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Barros is trying to control but can't.
Monkey trying to mount his opponent but Barros defends it.

Monkey is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Barros wants to get back to full guard.

Monkey thows a huge punch but Barros dodges it nicely.
Barros wants to improve his position but Monkey is controlling well.
Barros is refusing to be controlled, as Monkey sits in half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Still in half guard, Monkey seems content to control.
Barros is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Monkey's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Monkey's back!
Monkey wants to escape the position but for the time being he's just trying to control the pace.
Monkey prevents Barros from getting a body triangle.

Barros might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Monkey kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Barros changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Monkey tries to avoid it but Barros manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Monkey to the ground. Monkey escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Barros tries to score a power double leg takedown but Monkey sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Barros somewhat.

Monkey swings around for an armbar but Barros sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Monkey's guard.

OQuinn avoids a punch combination nicely.
OQuinn dodges the punch combination from Thomas.
Thomas misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Thomas throws a head kick but OQuinn moves out of range.
OQuinn slaps away a takedown attempt from Thomas, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Thomas moves into the clinch.
Thomas has OQuinn pressed against the cage, preventing OQuinn from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
OQuinn wants to break free but Thomas has control.
OQuinn has had enough of the clinch but Thomas keeps him there for the moment.

Thomas gets control of OQuinn's arms and successfully pulls guard. Thomas will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Thomas thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
