Smithers comes to the cage accompanied by Ironman - Black Sabbath. Berrera has chosen High School Gym as his entrance music. And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jonathon Wonnut!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Colin Fray and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wonnut tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Goots counters with a nice leg kick.
A telegraphed right hand from Goots misses the target.
Wonnut wants to clinch
and Goots counters with a thumping low kick.
Wonnut misses with a combination
and Goots counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Wonnut is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Goots jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Wonnut fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

It looks like Shoots Goots has been cut.
Wonnut wants to clinch up but Goots keeps it at a distance.
Goots scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Wonnut doesn't seem bothered though.
Goots throws a nice outside leg kick.
Wonnut moves in looking to clinch but Goots pushes him off.
Goots is throwing a storm of strikes! Right hook, left hook and follows it up with a spinning back fist! Wonnut hits the canvas like a rag doll! And just like that, this one is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Shoots Goots!
Shoots Goots got down on his knees post fight and begged the management for a title shot. 'Please, I want that title shot so bad! Give it to me!'
