The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gonawyn shoots for a double leg takedown but Mir sprawls well. He's pushed Gonawyn's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Mir shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gonawyn as he avoids it easily.
Gonawyn tries for a takedown but Mir circles away easily

Mir moves in looking to clinch but Gonawyn pushes him off.

Gonawyn stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Gonawyn wants it to stay on the feet.
King Gonawyn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Mir.

Mir shoots in and bounces Gonawyn off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Britva uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Slyvia.
Slyvia takes a swing at Britva's ribcage but misses.

and Britva counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Slyvia lands with a hook. Britva tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Slyvia cracks Britva with an uppercut from hell and Britva crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Slyvia's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Britva has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Slyvia is really squeezing tight and eventually Britva passes out! Slyvia breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Trevor Ferrat!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Cecil Peabody and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beebe shoots for a takedown but Ferrat saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Beebe tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Ferrat manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Beebe shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ferrat as he jumps to the side.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Beebe is defended easily by Ferrat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chase Beebe. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Beebe closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Ferrat quickly recovers to half guard.
Ferrat tries to kick Beebe off but Beebe keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Beebe is keen to just control but Ferrat is a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ferrat manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Ferrat moves out of range as Beebe strikes.
Beebe shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ferrat as he avoids it easily.
Beebe shoots in but no luck this time.
Beebe shoots in for a takedown but Ferrat shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
A big right from Ferrat misses.
Ferrat works Beebe's body with a nice hook.

Beebe scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Ferrat is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Beebe is controlling him well.

Beebe tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Beebe has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
You can see the frustration on Ferrat's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Beebe fails to land a wild elbow strike.
The referee asks Beebe politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Beebe prefers to stall for the moment though.
Beebe misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

The strikes coming from Beebe are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Beebe decides to stand back up. Beebe steps back and let's Ferrat get back to his feet.
Ferrat keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Beebe is looking to clinch but Ferrat is avoiding it.
Beebe fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Some bone on bone action there as Ferrat checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Beebe throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Ferrat counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Beebe tries to clinch but Ferrat is having none of it.
Beebe throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ferrat's waist but Ferrat gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Beebe off to one side.
Ferrat misses with a lunging right hand
and Beebe counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Ferrat gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Beebe to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Beebe pushes down on Ferrat's leg and manages to get into half guard.
It looks like Beebe is going to stand back up.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Beebe is looking for a kimura here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Beebe has closed the distance and engaged Ferrat in a clinch.
Beebe tries a knee to the head but Ferrat blocks it.
Ferrat stalling.
Beebe tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Ferrat smiles and moves away.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Beebe.
Chase Beebe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Beebe shoots in but no luck this time.

Ferrat walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Ferrat misses the shot to the body.
Beebe scores with a punch to the head.
Beebe displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Ferrat throws out the jab.
Ferrat stuffs the takedown.
Chase Beebe is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ferrat misses with a looping right.
Beebe uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Ferrat.
Beebe shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ferrat pinned against the cage. Ferrat gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Beebe shoots in and drives through. Ferrat sprawls well.
Ferrat slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Beebe looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Beebe is rocked!
Ferrat catches Beebe with a right, a left, a right. It's raining punches and Beebe forgot an umbrella! Another punch and he's down. This one is over!

Main event

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Joko Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gary McF (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gary McF told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Diaz shoots in but no luck this time.
McF tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Diaz counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in McF's guard now.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Diaz is working McF over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
McF is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Diaz dives into side control.
McF really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Diaz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Diaz scores with a couple of short elbows.

McF is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Diaz in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and McF looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Diaz turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!
