The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Koshiba changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Denn tries to avoid it but Koshiba manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Denn to the ground. Denn escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Koshiba shoots in for a takedown but Denn shows good takedown defense.
No luck for Denn with that takedown attempt.
Koshiba looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Denn is fending him off so far but Koshiba persists. Nope, Denn circles away and we're back to standing.
Pj Denn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yudai Koshiba.

and Denn counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Koshiba dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Denn. That did some damage!

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Denn seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Koshiba for as long as he can get away with.
Denn wants to lay and pray for a moment but Koshiba keeps working.
Denn creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Koshiba sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Koshiba can do anything to dispel that myth.

Denn has hold of Koshiba's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Koshiba seems comfortable defending it but Denn has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Koshiba is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Koshiba is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Denn couldn't care less - he's delighted!
