Mir shoots for a double leg takedown but Talltree sprawls well. He's pushed Mir's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Talltree displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mir.

Talltree lands a big head kick that sends Mir tumbling to the mat! Talltree takes a step backwards and waves Mir back to his feet - he wants the finish!

That kick from Talltree tenderised Mir's leg. Mir is trying to keep his angry face on.

Talltree shakes his hands by his side, trying to relax. Mir takes his eyes off the ball for a moment - Talltree sees the opportunity and cracks him with a massive hook! Mir bends double and collapses on top of himself - he's out! The crowd are going absolutely nuts! Wow, what a knockout!

I think Shamrock might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to PRIDE FC Opening Theme. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Smith is looking to control Shamrock's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Smith avoid being mounted?
Shamrock seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Smith can do anything to dispel that myth.
Smith is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Shamrock wants to take a breather but Smith is having none of it.
Smith is pressing down on Shamrock's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

King shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Diaz manages to get to full guard.
Diaz manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. King manages to get himself to full guard.
King can't keep his opponent in guard - Diaz advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Diaz is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so King is just riding it out for now. Diaz eventually gives up the hold.

Thomas follows up with a right hand that knocks Slyvia into next week. He's out cold and this fight is over!
