The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ward shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

It looks like Donte Ward has been cut.
Michalek feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Wards jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Ward walks into a left hand.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ward looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Michalek thumps Ward with a low kick.

Ward throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Michalek was covering up waiting for the punch and Ward finishes the takedown easily into guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Michalek feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Ward sprawling to the canvas! Ward rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Michalek finish him?!

That has opened up Donte Ward's cut even more.

Ward drops his hands momentarily and Michalek needs no second invitation. He sets himself and throws a perfect high kick, that clips Ward just on the top of the head. Ward drops like a sack of potatoes to the canvas, out cold! Oooooooh yeah! Stick a fork in Ward - he's done!
