The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, George Francis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloppy strikes from James. Those never looked like landing.
James misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Alcindor.
James lands a body shot.

James rushes Alcindor and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
James tries to stall but Alcindor uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
James can't break the clinch.
Alcindor prevents James from breaking the clinch.

James pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
James lands a jab to the nose.

James rushes Alcindor and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Alcindor has James pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. James manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

James's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

James works Alcindor's body with a nice hook.
A clash of legs there as Alcindor blocks the low kick.

James fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Alcindor, pushing him back against the cage.
James wants to break the clinch but can't.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

James ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. James no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Alcindor wants to pass the guard but James is keeping the position.
Alcindor trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Alcindor postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
James looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

James is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Alcindor is controlling him.

Alcindor stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. James swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Alcindor throws a strike but James rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
James wanted to stand there but Alcindor had control of the position.

Alcindor looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Alcindor manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. James manages to get himself to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Alcindor won't allow James to get back to his feet.
Alcindor working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of James's head.

James kicks Alcindor off and gets to his feet.
Tank James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
James throws a lazy right hand but Alcindor sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
James fails to land with a series of punches.

James lands a nice shot to the body.

James clinches up against the cage.
Alcindor wants to take the fight to the mat but James manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Tank James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lew Alcindor.

James escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
James will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
The crowd cheers as James lands an impressive looking overhand right. Alcindor doesn't seem phased though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

James closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Alcindor's guard.

James stands and steps away. Alcindor gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
James connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tank James dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

James throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Alcindor shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Alcindor showed some decent athleticism there.

Alcindor postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt James bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Alcindor and the fight is over!

Post fight, Lew Alcindor stared into the camera and said 'I spent more than a month on that shithole waiting to be free again and now i'm back with a vengeance and hunger flowing through my veins'.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Rua cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Rua connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Oh Marx is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Rua lands shots to the head and Marx turtles up! The ref has seen enough and stops the fight! This one is over!
